Call of Duty Modern Warfare update: COD Warzone Season 5 PS4 and Xbox patch news

More news regarding this week’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 5 update has been revealed by developers Infinity Ward. This includes confirmation that Warzone and MW gamers will need to download a big file when it arrives on August 5.

The good news is that the patch will reduce the overall size of the game on your hard drive, which will be warmly welcomed by PS4 and Xbox One gamers.

A message from the Call of Duty development confirms: “Hey all – season 5 is coming soon, and its big. with the update we’re including all the new content for the season as well as optimizing our asset packs.

“This means the download will be big, but the overall size of the game will actually shrink on your consoles after you download the patch, even though we’re adding a bunch of new content for the season.”

ORIGINAL: Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare updates are launching this week, bringing big changes across all platforms. A big part will be the release of COD Season 5, and there have been plenty of reports teasing what map changes and new content are being worked on. From what has been teased so far, developers Infinity Ward have been saving some of the biggest stuff for this season, which could be one of the last before the next Call of Duty game is launched. Fans have been given plenty to suggest that Call of Duty Warzone will see the opening of the Stadium, creating a whole new drop zone.

How this will happen has not been revealed but there’s a good chance the top of the stadium could be blown open by an explosion.

This will change the current dynamics of the Verdansk map, with Downtown becoming even more wide-open than it was before.

Some of these hints have been shared indirectly through streamers, while Activision has also been providing a few teases.

The official Call of Duty Twitter account recently posted a picture of the stadium entrance with the caption:

“If the Stadium had a name, what would it be? Our doors are open to ideas. Drop ’em below.”

A new train is expected to appear on the map, offering a mobile loot drop for those who can secure it.

A range of new weapons, skins and maps are also expected to arrive as part of the Modern Warfare bundle

This will reportedly include new AN-94 and APC9 weapons, although it’s unclear if these will come to both Modern Warfare and Warzone.

Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 5 will start on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

It’s likely that this big update will go live in the evening in the United States on August 4, and early morning in the UK, on August 5.

Developers Infinity Ward has yet to confirm its full plans for Season 5 but the good news is that this information should be arriving very soon.

And while it might not give everything away, it could provide some much-needed clarity on what to expect later this week.
